Our new GLOW IN THE DARK STARS Puanga Hoody for Musos is here! Puanga is the Māori name for the star Rigel, located in the Orion constellation. It is a bright star that is often seen in the late autumn and early winter night sky, and its appearance is a significant marker for the Māori New Year. Because it is higher in the sky, some Iwi would see Puanga, before the Matariki cluster of stars at the beginning of the Māori New year due to being based in gullies surround by hills or mountains. Therefore celebrating the Māori New Year as 'Puanga' rather than 'Matariki'.
Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in midwinter and for many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year. The cluster is presented on this crew neck sweater in a blue coloured vinyl in the light and special glow in the dark at night, and underlined with a bass and treble clef.
This hoody, available in adults and kids sizes, was created in collaboration with Los Love Tattoo based at Thirdline Tattoo in Historic Village, Tauranga.
This design is available in 2 colour variations White on a BLACK tee or Black on a WHITE tee!
All designs come with glow in the dark stars reflecting a bright star for Puanga and the Matariki cluster with a music note for the star Tupuārangi, sometimes associated with creativity and music. There is also a sneaky Bass and Treble Clef underlining the word Puanga!
These hoodies are only available around the time of Matariki, pick yours up today!
Note: Sizes 7XL & 9XL are 300gsm. All other sizes are 280gsm.
